Melancholia / The Other Half of Her
Melancholia:
When you are at your lowest point, when you think that you have really hit rock bottom, Melancholia shows up to prove you wrong. It can always get worse. Melancholia lives within your mind with her Pianist, Dean, who has been condemned to this fate through his questionable behaviour as a human on Earth. This cabaret is a combination of stories and monologues, written by Alice Orlik, and songs varying in genre from Musical Theatre to Pop-rock, Jazz, and Blues.
Join Melancholia in this darkly comedic musical cabaret about what it is like to experience depression in the 21st century. She will tell you painfully relatable stories about her “clients” who are humans on Earth, experiencing both joy and pain like the rest of us; and maybe, just maybe, she will tell you a little about how she became Melancholia, and who she was before this dark fate.
The Other Half of Her:
The Other Half of Her, created by Tegan Theobald, is based on finding individuality after being born an identical twin. It will take a chronological journey through her life as a twin, showing the audience through music and song, how it felt to be compared so obviously to someone else and her journey to move away from being seen as the same person. It’s a light-hearted, fun cabaret that will leave you with something to think about, and perhaps make you reconsider the next time you go to pass judgement on people you don’t know.
Doors 6.30pm. Showtime 7.30pm. 2 hours including interval.
